Dexi

Not sewing related. Please pray for my little kitty Dexter. He is my little sewing helper, bobbin chaser and adorable distraction. He is very sick and hospitaled right now. Please send him positive thoughts that he will come home healthy to us!

Skirt pattern and pencil skirt

Here is the tutorial that I used to make my cardboard skirt pattern. This is a very detailed and easy to understand tutorial, and I highly recommend it to anyone. I have not followed the tutorial for making the skirt yet, but when I do I will post it!

Skirt base

So I decided I needed a basic skirt pattern that was simple enough to alter and play with. I realized that making a new pattern every time I wanted to make a skirt was just silly. I made this out of cardboard so that it can withstand repeated use, and repeated cat attacks! There is a tutorial on how to make this online, which I promise to link to later, when I am on my computer where it is bookmarked. Its fairly simple and such a great thing to have. All you need is you hip, and waist measurments and the measurment of the length between them. Stay tuned for the tutorial!

Red and Grey T-Shirt Skirt

This skirt is made from two tshirts. Its one of the most simple skirts I have made. It's just four panels, two narrow red ones and two wider grey ones. I didn't even have to hem the bottom, just used the bottom edge of the shirts!

Hello World!

I have no good reason for this blog, other than finding a place to show off my creations. Some of them work out exactly as planned. Most don't. I can waste hours of time with some old t-shirts and a pair of scissors, and sometimes I end up with something that I love! I also spend time painting with acrylic paint, reading, and watching some really geeky TV and movies. But those things are for a different blog! Maybe I will create one someday, but for now, I just don't have the time.

I am a Renegade Seamstress. What that means to me, is that I love to sew, but I don't like to follow directions! I rarely use a store bought pattern, and when I do, I usually alter it. Most of the clothes I make come from something else. Old jeans, T-shirts, skirts, even sheets! Anything fabric can become raw material for me. I don't like to spend tons of money on clothes that I know I could make myself, and make better. I hate getting rid of old clothes that don't fit. And I love knowing that nobody else has something like mine!
